Design Strategy
The design strategy focused on integrating the extension through careful massing and alignment with the existing structure. New volumes are positioned to reinforce existing circulation patterns while allowing the institution to remain flexible in accommodating future programmatic changes.
Spatial organization
Public-facing spaces are arranged to connect seamlessly with the original building, ensuring clarity of movement between old and new. Support and service areas are placed to minimize disruption, while galleries and educational spaces benefit from controlled lighting and adaptable layouts.
Material & Structure
Material selection reflects a restrained dialogue with the existing building, using complementary finishes and structural systems. The structure supports open interior spaces while maintaining a clear distinction between new construction and the original fabric.
